The 2006 - 2007 Board of the Penn Israel Coalition

PIC President

Max Schapiro

Max is a junior from Westchester, New York, studying political science and finance in the College and Wharton. He first became involved in Israel Advocacy after September 11 when he attended his first AIPAC Policy Conference. He is an avid "West Wing" watcher (still) and supports Jack Bauer for president.

PIC Vice-President
Edward is a junior from Villanova, Pennsylvania studying Economics and Economic History. He's a huge table tennis fantatic and a die hard Philly sports fan. You might also find him plotting his life to become the next federal reserve chairman. He's had a thing for Israel since some cute Israeli girls tried to kidnap him as a baby. Who could refuse that angelic face?

PIC Advocacy Coordinator Tali Yahalom

Tali is a sophomore from New York, NY, studying history, journalism, and Arabic and Hebrew studies. Growing up half-Israeli in a bilingual home, she has always felt a deep connection to Israeli culture and politics her entire life. Tali believes that advocating for and promoting a fair and balanced image of Israel is the only way to improve and secure its standing in the international community. To that end, she hopes to pursue a career in Middle East correspondence, and help teach others about Israel's beautifully multifaceted history, culture and people.

PIC Outreach Co-Coordinator Stephen Morse

Stephen is a senior from Strong Island, New York. He studies English and history in the College. He is still waiting to find his Israeli goddess for hedonistic pleasure. Stephen is also the Chairman of the Middle East Forum, an organization that promotes American interests in the region. He is the Ego editor of 34th Street and a columnist, blogger and muckraker for the Daily Pennsylvanian . If you find something amazing for him to do next year, send him an e-mail and let him know your ideas.

Jared Mendelsohn

Treasurer

Alexandra Levy

Public Relations Officer

Alexandra Levy is a sophomore from Falls Church, VA, studying history and economics. She is also involved with Kedma, Penn's journal on Jewish thought & culture and Israel, and has played quiz bowl since high school. Alex has worked for B'nai B'rith for two summers, once for its museum and once doing advocacy work. She spends her spare time reading books about World War II and modern Middle East history.

PIC Political Coordinator

Alexander Sulyevich

Alexander  is a sophomore from Louisville, KY studying International Relations and Business and Public Policy. In his spare time, he enjoys explaining to people at Penn where Louisville, KY is, and that Jews actually live there. He’s involved in numerous political clubs at Penn, including PennForum, a debate organization, and the Soapbox, Penn’s non-partisan political magazine. Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, Alex has family in Israel and is deeply concerned about the future of the Jewish State.

PIC Outreach Co- Coordinator

Michelle Tandler

Michelle is a San Francisco native and a Junior in the College studying History.  She spent last semester at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.  Michelle plays Women's Club Tennis and is involved with the UA Education Committee. She enjoys baking and hiking and admits to a weakness for Israeli paratroopers.

PIC Community Service Coordinator

Rachel Tydings

Rachel is a sophomore from Long Island, NY, studying American history, political science, and business and public policy.  Ever since she was a little girl, the importance of Israel has always been an integral part of her life.  She has not only traveled there numerous times, but she has also given a lot of time and energy to support the Israeli people and Israeli organizations.  Rachel loves crime TV shows, especially CSI and Vanished.  She hopes to pursue a career in business hopefully working for an American/Israeli company.

PIC Education Coordinator

Teddy Fischer

Teddy became politically conscious after going to Israel with my eighth grade class.  The combination of that trip, starting high school, and becoming involved with Young Judaea –the largest Zionist youth movement in America- made him an active Zionist.  Over the next four years he read dozens of books about Israel and became increasingly involved with Young Judaea, eventually rising to the national leadership.  Teddy took a year off to volunteer, travel and learn in Israel before starting university.  All of his Zionist activity culminated last year when he was chosen as a representative to the World Zionist Congress. He has a cat named Muffin.
